Tool Evaluation Reflection

Sutori

Upon using Sutori, I was surprised how easy it was to use. I enjoyed how easy it was to begin and set up an account. The fact that this is a free resource especially stood out to me. I began playing around with it and made an “All About Me”, presentation with pictures, text, and a little quiz at the end. It had many choices of media and format when design my presentation. I found it very easy to use, and very self explanatory. However, I can see how students could end up getting distracted from all the options and internet access it allows.

Overall, I could see not just my future students, but myself using this as a resource in many different aspects. Its a great way for students to grasp new concepts, work together, and make real world connections that in turn will enhance their communication skills.

Below I have an short example of a possible PowerPoint you could create with this tool.

After exploring Edmodo, I am very impressed with all of the possibilities it provides for students and teachers. I was able to see how Teachers can communicate with students and parents in a safe chat area, although I currently don’t have any member on my account. I explored how assignments can be created and graded on the website with quick and easy feedback. I like that students and teachers can both post in the discussion board. As well as, how available and free this feature is in the app store.

This resource is definitely more on the advanced side, however is it manageable to work around and figure out what it is you may be looking for, you might just need to assistance. I was able to create a quick practice quiz to test it out, and I found that is was extremely easy to navigate and make a quiz to add for students to view. One of my favorite things about Edmodo is the incorporation of parents and keeping them involved. I think this is very important in the growth and development of students learning.

Overall I would consider using Edmodo in my classroom because of how involved it allows students, parents, and teachers to be. The open communication and immediate response it provides is essential in a good classroom.
