Grade Level: 4th Grade

Subject: Science (Solar System)

Objectives:

  • Learn about the 8 planets in the Solar System
  • Identify important facts about their assigned planet
  • Work collectively as a group (partners of 2) to try and convince the class to visit your planet
  • Create a visual advertisement (PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote, ect.) to present to the class

MA Curriculum Frameworks

  • 4-ESS1-1. Use evidence from a given landscape that includes simple landforms and rock layers to support a claim about the role of erosion or deposition in the formation of the landscape over long periods of time.
  • 4-ESS2-1. Make observations and collect data to provide evidence that rocks, soils, and sediments are broken into smaller pieces through mechanical weathering and moved around through erosion.
  • 4-ESS2-2. Analyze and interpret maps of Earth’s mountain ranges, deep ocean trenches, volcanoes, and earthquake epicenters to describe patterns of these features and their locations relative to boundaries between continents and oceans.
  • 4-LS1-1. Construct an argument that animals and plants have internal and external structures that support their survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.

Essential Questions:

  • Why should the class want to travel to your planet?
  • What kind of things can we learn? Any interesting facts?
  • What sets your planet apart from the others?

Assessment Plan:

  • Students will present their advertisement to the class with their own unique visual (PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote).
  • Classmates will be able to collectively post on blackboard about each presentation about what they learned (discussions and responses to other classmates).

Learning and Technology:

  • Students to have access to a computer or iPad to create a advertisement
  • Use of Prezi, PowerPoint, Keynote for visual
  • Discussion Board for class comments (Blackboard, Piazza, Slack)

Grade Level: 4th Grade

Subject: Math, multiplication and division

Objectives:

  • Students will be able to show their understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division.
  • Use visuals to explain both multiplication and division

MA Curriculum Frameworks:

  • 4.NBT: Number and Operations in Base Ten
  • 3.OA: Operations and Algebraic Thinking

Essential Questions:

  • How are multiplication and division inverse operations?
  • How can we model multiplication and division?

Assessment Plan:

There are many visual options for students to use
